Zombies... was this real? Was this just a dream?... As if life wasn't already bad enough, losing both parents and a little brother to a car accident, suddenly the dead came back to life and started eating people. It was all over the news; cases of people suddenly turning cannibal, biting people. Hospitals were over-flowing. The bite caused a nasty fever, and eventually death. From a few minutes to a few hours, that person came back... only it wasn't them anymore. A brainless corpse that only sought to feed...
Then everything everywhere went to the shitter. Alvin, the older brother, got recalled into the army. He'd said "something big" was coming, but he wasn't allowed to say exactly what. Before that, He'd pounded in some hard training into his younger brother. Simon didn't know what it was about, and almost began to hate Alvin because of how hard he was pushing, but Alvin said he'd thank him for it soon, and after seeing what was becoming of the world, he was right...
Ghost - as he'd began to refer to himself - knew he wouldn't be able to hold out in the family house. In the beginning, he barricaded all entry points and took refuge in the basement while all of the initial craziness was going on; looting, murders, beatings, rapings, burnings, all of the usual insanity that went on when there was no law anymore. Most figured this would all blow over and the government would roll through and clean it all up, but after a few days everything began to look like a ghost town. There was no police, no army, no FBI, no emergency rescue... it was starting to look like every man for himself.
The food and water he had here was only going to last so long. Ghost knew the time would come when he'd have to set out into that madness and see if the only member of his family was still alive. So after putting what supplies he had left into his bag, and arming himself with his metal baseball bat, his brother's combat knife, and his father's 1911 pistol with 2 extra clips - including the one it was loaded with - Ghost stepped outside onto the front porch, to see the city that he was born and raised in deserted and resembling a warzone.
Buildings were on fire. Corpses lay in the streets. Cars were crashed into houses and buildings. Ghost could see zombies shuffling about here and there, and others eating the pieces of those unfortunate enough to get caught. The smell was horrible, causing Ghost to raise the black scarf around his neck up above his nose and mouth as a filter to the nasty air.

The world had gone to hell in a hand basket. While Destiny’s life hadn’t been the greatest thing in the world – save for when she spent time as an exchange student in Japan – it certainly had been better than this. She still kicked herself in the mental ass from time to time for leaving to go to the Iaido competition in the first place: that having been the last time she had seen any of her family. Her mother especially had begged and pleaded for her not to go but Destiny, thinking she was ‘the shit’ at the time, had pulled the adult card being eighteen and all and had decided she was going regardless of what her mothers wishes were. Her siblings had wanted to go with her but they hadn’t been allowed.
That had been the last time she had seen any of them. She had barely made it back from the competition as it was, and when she had she had found a completely empty house. The place looked as if it had been ransacked but from the signs that Destiny had found – pictures missing from their frames, clothing gone, little mementos missing here and there – had given her hope that her family had left. The lack of blood indicated as much: she had seen more than her fare share of zombies eating people after all and they were far from neat.
That day she had almost been attacked in the house. She had gone down to the basement, hoping that she would find them there, only instead she had found a zombie – one she didn’t recognize as any of her people. The thing had almost grabbed her but she had managed, using the Katana she had taken with her to the Iaido competition, to cut off its head and escape. It had been somewhat traumatic in a way: taking a life was something she hadn’t done before: and yet she had done it to survive.
From then on she had been moving from place to place, not lingering too long in one spot as to avoid drawing attention to herself. She knew it wasn’t just the zombies she had to worry about – a young female out in the world, alone, would draw the wrong kind of attention from the criminal element as well and she had no intentions of having to deal with that sort of thing. For now her travels had brought her to this area where in the distance she could see buildings on fire. She could see zombies here and there some of which were eating what looked to be the remains of people while others were just aimlessly wandering.
Behind her she heard a noise and turned to see a zombie approaching her. Without hesitating and in typical Iaido style, she unsheathed her katana, sliced the blade clean through the zombies throat – effectively decapitating it, wiped the blade clean on the cloth she always carried, and then sheathed it again. Quick and clean: skilled.

Leaving home for the last time, Ghost took to the streets. He didn't know where he was going to end up, or where he was going to sleep, but he knew staying home was just a bad idea to continue. With his bat upside down in his right hand for the moment, the 1911 inside of his coat holstered beneath his left armpit, Ghost started making his way around his neighborhood to see if there were anything worth scavenging.
Ghost never said anything to any of his neighbors; he didn't know anyone on this street despite living here all of his life. Many of the houses were abandoned, and ransacked. The first couple of houses turned up nothing at all. Ghost entered the 3rd house to see the family inside dead in their beds. The mother and father were both dead due to self inflicted gunshot wounds to the head. A copy of the bible was between them. Flies hoarded the room, and Ghost imagined that the smell was pretty horrible without his scarf on. A revolver was on the floor. Ghost picked it up to examine it, seeing that all of the bullets had been fired. He dropped the piece and moved on.
A teenage daughter and son were both dead too, in their rooms, due to head shots. Bibles were in both of their beds. Ghost, looking through their things and swatting away flies, didn't really come up with much except a bottle of ibuprofen, but in the son's closet sat a brand new Machete. Ghost picked it up and looked it over. He fastened it to his bag in a fashion that the handle of it was above his right shoulder. A weapon that would surely come in handy somewhere down the line.
Ghost heard screams out front. He quickly moved back to the parent's bed room to take a knee and look out the window through the blinds. A female was being chased by several males. Her clothes had been torn and she had a bloody nose. The males, 3 of them, all had devious expressions, so it was obvious what was going on. Ghost thought about going down there and getting involved, but then that would mean the girl was likely to want to follow him, and he wasn't so sure about joining up with anyone at the moment.
One of the guys eventually caught the girl, tackling her to the ground, who was screaming, begging and pleading. The other 2 joined him and held her down while the first began to tear her clothes off. Things began to escalate even further when Zombies began to approach, marching along slowly, moaning. They approached from multiple directions. One of the guys got up and started fighting with some, but the lackluster attacks he executed looked to cause no damage; they just kept on coming. He was overwhelmed by 3 zombies and taken to the ground, where he was bitten multiple times. Screams of agony filled the air.
The other 2 abandoned their rape plan and began to make a break for it. The girl also tried to escape, but she was grabbed, dragged to the ground with the first guy, and bitten. Others came from between houses and joined into the feeding frenzy. Soon the screams went quiet and all that could be heard were the disgusting sounds of the zombie feast. The ground turned red beneath them.
When the 2 were eaten, the zombies began to shuffle about again. A couple of blocks over, there were several loud gunshots. As if synchronized, all of the zombies turned towards the shots, and began heading in the direction of them. Ghost took note of that. Were they attracted by sound?... They'd all approached from the screams of that girl, and at the moment they were slowly marching towards where those gunshots came from. Ghost began to figure that it would be a good idea to stay as silent as possible from that moment out. He also began to figure that he'd likely be able to use something like this to his advantage...

Dez moved cautiously: she had no intentions of drawing attention to herself from either the living or the undead. She watched each step she took, taking to ducking down and hiding behind or beside cars, dumpsters, or other large objects big enough to hide her small frame. She made her way down the street that way, silently and stealthy, avoiding catching the attention of the zombies that lingered. However, as a disturbance reached her ears she froze in place. Screams: feminine screams.
Peaking around the dumpster she was currently hiding behind she could see a scene beginning to unfold in front of her. Three guys were after a girl whose clothing was torn. It was no hard guess what their intentions were, but Destiny couldn’t bring herself to become involved. They were drawing the attention of the nearby zombies, and the louder the girl got the more seemed to be drawn to them. Even those who weren’t within the sight line of what was going on seemed to start heading in the direction as if following the noise. There was absolutely nothing Destiny was going to be able to do to help – not without getting herself killed in the process: and sure enough the zombies converged on them, ripping them apart and beginning to eat them.
Not only was Destiny beginning to realize that sound attracts them, but she was also beginning to see that while dealing with one or two was easy enough with her crossbow and katana, taking on a group of them wasn’t. En-mass the zombies were a major threat, one that was best to be avoided: even if it meant having to run off to save her life. They weren’t smart, but they never gave up and they never quit which made them even more dangerous in some aspects.
Jarred from her thoughts by gunfire Destiny almost jumped out of her skin; nearly knocking a metal trash can which was next to her over – though she managed to catch it at the last second and keep it from smashing to the ground. The zombies didn’t notice her, and began to make their way toward where the noise had come from. Not wanting to risk being spotted by any on the move – as many seemed to be coming out of nowhere with the loud noise – Destiny stepped backwards, entering into the doorway of a house and then inside, her hand on the hilt of her katana and ready to draw it should any zombies prove to be inside.
She couldn’t shake the feeling she wasn’t alone in the house, and moving forward and into the kitchen she cautiously and carefully began to search through the cabinets – at least until a pile of cans near her elbow – empty – toppled over making a soft clatter that had her wincing and cursing beneath her breath… Could something or someone have heard that?

He'd had enough of standing there, looking at the red remains of that guy and that girl. Ghost stood, flexing his bad left leg several times, then continued to look through the house for goods. He opened cabinets, drawers and closets, remembering to now be as silent as possible. Ghost didn't know how good those thing's eyesight were, nor how good they could hear, really. But he figured it wouldn't hurt to adapt a "ninja mode" from there on. Ghost came across a pair of goggles, putting them on his forehead.
He opened the drawer to a nightstand and came across a Zippo lighter. Opening it and flicking, the flame sparked to life. Ghost closed the Zippo and shook it several times next to his right ear, hearing that it was pretty much full of fluid. Pocketing the lighter, Ghost continued on. There were other gunshots several blocks over. That was good; it meant that whatever freaks were in this area would head over there, covering his exit when he decided to leave.
There was nothing much on the second floor, so he moved down to the first, his metal bat upside down in his left hand. His right was swatting away the flies that had accumulated because of the dead bodies upstairs. The kitchen looked like it had been ran through; the back door was open. Ghost opened one of the drawers, seeing nothing but papers, bills, and other useless crap. He opened another drawer and saw a flashlight. Picking it up, he clicked the button with his left hand in front of it, seeing that it worked. How charged the batteries were was left to be seen. Ghost put the flashlight in his bag.
More gunshots. There were screams this time. Ghost looked out of the window above the kitchen sink. He couldn't see what was going on, but he could see several zombies in the surrounding yards all shuffling towards the sound. Ghost didn't know what was going on over there, nor did he care. As long as it wasn't happening to him. The direction opposite of the sound was looking the most appealing. Ghost went to the living room, drawing his 1911 and holding it behind his right leg, out of view for now. There were probably more of those guys that were chasing that girl, and he decided not to take any chances. Ghost had never shot or killed anyone before, but in these crazy times he was totally prepared to, especially if it meant he would live to see another day.
Ghost opened the front door slowly, peeking out while standing off to the side of the doorway. He didn't see anyone out there... at the moment. Not one to be hasty, he decided to stand there for a moment, waiting to see any sort of movement...

Paranoid she might have alerted any zombies nearby – even though most if not all of them seemed interested in making their way toward the gunshots – Dez stood halfway out of her crouch and peered out the window nearby. She couldn’t see anything outside save for more dead bodies that had been ripped and torn open only to end up half eaten. With her blood pumping hard, the rhythm easily heard within her own ears, she turned her focus for the moment back to trying to find some food within the cabinets: taking extra precautions to be quiet this time and not knock anything else over. Each cabinet, however, seemed to turn up the same result: empty or expired food – far too expired to even try eating it without the risk of getting badly sick.
”Fuck...”, she muttered beneath her breath before sighing: this house was just as dead as the last couple she had checked on her way here. This whole situation of coming to this location was starting to seem like more and more of a bad idea – not only was the hunt for food a bust so far but with the guys attempting to rape the girl in the streets and now whoever was firing off shots drawing the attention of every zombie in the area… Well, it all reminded her of why she didn’t like traveling in large groups, and why she avoided most communities when she did happen to stumble across them.
With the kitchen a bust, and the place a general mess and looking like it had already been ransacked a few times over, Destiny didn’t even bother heading upstairs. Instead, she headed back toward the front door which had been wide open when she arrived and which she had kept that way as to not draw attention to anyone living that someone might now be inside. With her back against the wall she peered sideways out the door and into the street, doing her best to keep as much of her body hidden from view as she could manage. She couldn’t see anymore zombies in the streets, nor any living beings for that matter, so very slowly she came out of the house and stepped lightly onto the porch; crouched down so that she could still keep the majority of her frame hidden behind the small porch railing.
As Destiny paused, wondering what she wanted to do next and waiting to see if the coast really was clear, she found herself wondering if the people responsible for the gunshots she was hearing were part of the group of rapists who had tried to attack the girl, or if they were a group the girl had been with and whom she had been separated from. While the urge to go see, to perhaps even try and help, was there her common sense prevailed: whoever that person was firing off guns like that - with the amount of zombies they had just alerted - there was no chance of saving them. It was definitely a tough thing to realize: some people couldn’t be saved because it would put Destiny’s own ass in the line of danger and she knew that if she wanted to survive then some people were just going to have to die in the process.
So, with the coast looking mostly clear and no sign of anything living or dead nearby that she could see, she began to make her way across the street, bobbing and weaving through the cars and general debris still within the street…

| Considering the only thing he could do was keep moving Mark had finally made it too the city and the main thing on his mind was the fact that everything in view was nearly rubble causing a sickening feeling too reach him as he pushed down in the pedal of his bike and launched forward his two bags slung over his back and despite that Mark like always was pristine in appearance, nearing the city at a steady motion causing zombies too simply naw at him as he passed however he would stop when closing in on the city. Of course he could ride in like a cowboy but for sure that would cause him too wind up dead. Considering the smart thing too think was that his family left the city he began riding through the grass toward the sewer systems he used too play around as a kid. It would not take too long going downhill his bike would hop and swish through the grass with ease before coming too a screeching stop Mark overlooking the sewer entrance would notice two things the lock was not on like always and there was about five zombies outside feasting in the numerous rats leaving the tunnel, which could only mean a couple things there was something inside scaring the rats.
Mark had one option seeing how he could not hope too defend himself against the dead instead he would park his bicycle and pull a egg timer from his bag moving too the left and twisting the timer too about 1 minute and 30 seconds, he would place it on the ground and then move back too his bike by the time he made it back too the bike the timer would go off drawing the dead near and clearing the way too the sewers. It was something rather useful Mark had learned they were drawn too sound, and bright colors. Using these one could completely avoid the dead all together. Pushing his bike along Mark would move up too the gate before moving in it was hard too see but he had been here enough too know it lead into the city and moving this way would be much safer than moving up above with the numerous dead.
It was pretty quite down in the sewers and Mark could not help but shake at every slight sound but he was good not too shriek out in fear of something lurking in the darkness the only constant sound would be the sound of his feet and the bike rolling along on the wet floor. After not too long he reached his destination a ladder in which would he believed was leading too a manhole in the middle of the city. After parking his bike he would begin too climb before pushing the manhole cover open slightly and looking out he would see a group of zombies eating some men and a girl which looked too have just been caught by the dead. Mark would scan the area and see other dead and simply nothing else other than fire.

No one was out front of the house. Ghost pushed open the screen door and slowly stepped out onto the front porch, looking in both directions, keeping the 1911 tucked behind his left leg. The gunshots from a couple blocks over continued, along with the yelling and screaming. Although he wondered what was going on over there Ghost didn't plan on going over there to find out.
He left the porch and began making his way further into the city. He'd scavenged a good bit around here but he didn't want to get greedy and blunder his way into some bad situation. Ghost moved quickly while crouched down, avoiding several zombies that were standing around. Ghost found that as long as he kept low and quiet, they didn't notice him. Better to just avoid these things altogether rather than take them on and risk being injured. The news said that all it took was one bite or scratch from those thing, and that was the beginning of the end.
Ghost avoided main streets and stuck to alleys and between buildings as much as possible. It was downtown near a library he used to frequent, stepping out onto the main street from between a bank and another building that he noticed a group of people being chased by a crowd. It was a small horde, far too many to try taking on. Ghost took off running too, down the main street. The nearby intersection was blocked off by a row of school buses and metal barricades. Ghost was able to quickly scale to the top of the closest bus.
He was about to leave, but some of them called for help. Part of him said leave, but the better part of him said he should at least help them to the top before continuing on. He sighed, knowing they would start asking him a bunch of questions and possibly follow him, but he wasn't going to join any groups. Groups were just bad news.
There were 5 of them. 3 girls and 2 guys. Ghost help up 2 girls and 2 guys. The last girl was lagging behind. When she finally caught up, as the others jumped over the other side of the bus to the ground, Ghost reached down to grab her hand, but suddenly recognized her. This girl was his crush from back in school. The only girl he'd ever liked, Harriet Patterson. He still remembered the reaction she gave, which was rude and uncalled for. He still remembered the laughs, the embarrassment.
Ghost pulled his hand back with no expression on his face. "Wait!" she yelled. "Wait what are you doing! Don't leave me down here like this! You.... Wait, I know you!... You can't leave me like this, please!" The small horde was closing in, and there were no other avenues of escape. She tried jumping up and climbing, but failed. There was no way to crawl underneath the bus either; she was stuck. "Please wait! I know what I did to you back in school, and i'm sorry!! You have to believe me!! Please, help!!"
Ghost stood up on top of the bus, still looking down at her with no expression. With his large collar, all that was visible were his eyes, emotionless, looking down at the girl who'd torn his heart out of his chest and viciously stomped on it, to the amusement of the whole school. The horde closed in on her and she began to scream madly. trying to fight them off didn't last long; they overwhelmed her and began biting. Crunches and the sounds of flesh tearing were loud with the screams. Like usual, the screams soon went silent, replaced with the sounds of eating.
Ghost couldn't bring himself to care. He turned and jumped off the other side of the bus.

The next few houses that Destiny quickly but carefully peaked in on were in equally as bad condition – if not worse – than the last. It was beginning to look like this area had been picked clean, and Destiny didn’t want to linger considering there could be more people out there waiting in watching in hopes of trying to find someone else to snatch up. So, with that thought on her mind she moved on. As before she moved as quickly but cautiously as possible, hiding behind objects as she went and being mindful of where she stepped so that she didn’t make an abundance of noise. Thankfully, with whoever had been firing off the gun having drawn the attention of the majority of the zombies around, things were uneventful as Destiny moved on to ‘greener pastures’.
Once she was a little deeper into the city than she had been – something that made her quite uncomfortable if she was being honest with herself – she climbed up a ladder along the back of a three story high building. It was one of a series of buildings that would allow her to traverse up top without having to be on the ground where she risked running into hordes. Thankfully for her it didn’t seem like many people had the same idea as her, allowing her to move quickly as she parkourd her way across the roof tops with ease without running into any zombies. She jumped from rooftop to rooftop, sometimes over small gaps and sometimes with having to pause, throw her bag over a large gap, and then follow after so that the bag didn’t make her heavier and make her screw up the jump.
After one of those particular types of jumps she found herself looking over the edge as she slung the bag’s strap back over her shoulder and across her chest. Down below there was a scene going on: a small horde was chasing a group of people around. Another individual was close by who seemed to also be putting some distance between himself and the horde. From the looks of things, and with how he wasn’t apart of the fleeing group, he seemed to be on his own just like Destiny was. In fact, it seemed like it took the group calling out for help for the individual to stop and do so… or rather, mostly help. From her vantage point Destiny could see him start to help the last girl up only to stop suddenly and watch her be overtaken and bitten into by the zombies. He looked to be watching this before jumping off and onto the other side of the bus.
Not wanting to become the next target of the horde down below who was likely enjoying its fresh new meal Destiny took to leaping across the rooftops once more, making her way down the line so that she ended up past the barricade of buses. There was a lower building up ahead which she made her way to. Once she got to the ledge she carefully dropped down her back and then jumped down after it, rolling as soon as her legs hit the ground to help absorb the impact and keep herself from becoming injured. Once she stopped she made sure to double back a few feet and pick up her bag again, once more securing it as she continued on her way: now only two stories up. She had no idea if she had been spotted by the living who had just escaped being eaten, but she was more than ready to pull her weapon if she had and they wanted trouble.

| Considering everything was being drawn by a series of gunshots this was the perfect time too move up and out of the sewers considering this too be the perfect place too start building his new sewer home the first thing he would need is a secure line of food and too secure his resting place before night time. So with the first being wood on his mind he was now lifting himself out of the sewer and moving into a nearby building. He would be extra careful not too draw any attention and would mainly scan the area for anything he could build with but after a little bit of searching it was obvious he was not gonna find anything. Instead he would look out the window giving a sigh, for the most part he did not know what too do the sewer was the best idea he could come up with but it was also limited by the lack of light and not knowing the actual way around. So with that he would have a idea moving back toward the sewer he would step out of the building only too be pushed by a dead and fall too the ground before scuffle and pushing it with his feet. Thankfully it was only one he would get too his feet as fast as possible and nearly leap toward the manhole before climbing down and closing the cover just as the dead appeared clawing at the cover.
Now back in the sewer Mark would take some time too gather himself before deciding it would be best too head too the city hall and look for schematics for the sewers and likewise he could grab and storage manifest too see I there was any goods lying around people So I not have thought too look for. Now back on his bike and flying through the sewers Mark So I be making good time and moving pretty fast only stopping too look up and see what was around this time he would spot something strange a man standing on a bus and from what it seemed he was letting the girl die. Mark could do nothing so he would scan around for a street sign too show where he was at before spotting what he thought was a falling dead but actually might have been someone jumping on the roof. From the street sign he was three blocks away from city hall which was North and were Mark was heading however he could not pass up the chance too meet more people power in numbers they say.
He would try and hurry down the ladder and hop on too his bike moving too the manhole closes too the other side of the bus, he would park his bike and hurry up pushing the manhole open he would begin scanning for anyone, he would see 2 girls and three guys and call out too them. "Hey over here guys!"

Ghost landed on the ground on the other side of the bus in a crouch, then stood again. He recognized the 2 guys and 2 girls also from back in school. All of them were looking pretty bad, and they had no supplies or weapons. The 4 looked as if they hadn't had anything to eat or drink in a while. As these 4 were some of the ones to give him a hard time back in those days, Ghost couldn't bring himself to care.
"Hey, where--where's Harriet?" asked one of the girls.
"...She missed the bus," Ghost said, before turning and beginning to walk off. On this side of the bus, there didn't look to have been much activity. There were a couple of zombies shuffling about, but they hadn't looked in this direction yet.
"Hey wait!" said one of the guys. The 4 started following him. "Who are you?"
"Nobody," Ghost answered.
"You seem better equipped for all of this madness," said one of the girls. "You have any... anything to eat or drink on you?"
"Nope. Sorry."
"Come on, you have to have something in that bag, i'm starving..."
"Not my problem."
"Wow dude, are you really gonna be that cold blooded?" asked the other female. "What if we said we'd make it worth your while?..."
"Not interested."
"How bout we just kick your ass and take all your stuff?" declared one of the guys. "There's only one of you and all you have is that baseball bat. There's 4 of us."
"Yeah," added the other guy, feeling courageous. "So how bout you drop the bag and give us whatever else you got on you. S'not like there's anything you can do to stop us---"
He attempted to catch up to Ghost to grab him, until Ghost spun to face them pointing his 45.caliber 1911 in their direction, making all 4 stop in place and begin back tracking. "What now?" Ghost asked. "I kinda already know what's next, 'the gun ain't loaded,' right? You wanna find out?"
The 4 now looked scared and held their hands up. "Ok... ok man..." one of the guys said. "Take it easy... we get it..." At this point is when someone opened a manhole cover nearby and said "Hey, over here guys!" The girls both yelped, and all of them jumped. Ghost glanced at the guy in the man hole, figuring there was no way in hell he was going down into a sewer. With their attention on him, Ghost turned and continued walking on. He made a left down a side street and began trying to put as much distance between them and himself as possible.
It was starting to get dark. The last thing he wanted to do was to be out here wandering around at night. Ghost bean to think that it was time to find a spot to hunker down for the night. He'd wake up tomorrow and continue the search for... something. Anything. He also made a mental note to keep his eyes open for any signs of the army and his brother...

Destiny kept moving along the tops of the roofs, becoming closer and closer to the situation. She was debating with herself if she wanted to head on down and make her presence known (she hadn’t seen or talked to anyone in weeks now) or if she wanted to hang back and keep her distance when a confrontation of sorts began. Destiny was now close enough to hear what was going on as she perched herself on the edge of the building and from the sounds of things after realizing that their friend didn’t make it they expected the man who had saved them to give them food. He looked to be trying to blow them off, and they didn’t seem to take that too kindly. In fact, it looked like it was about to turn into a fight when suddenly a gun was pulled and pointed at them which caused them to immediately fall back. Someone then came out of the nearby man hole and the stranger with the gun took that moment to continue walking away: Destiny couldn’t blame him, she wouldn’t have gone underground even if someone paid her all the money in the world. She could only imagine how easy it would be to get trapped down there, and she had no intentions of learning about it by first hand experience. She preferred the roof tops where the freaks couldn’t get her since they had yet to prove to be able to climb: wide open air – even if it wasn’t all that fresh with the rotting corpses and such laying around.
So, leaving the sewer man and the group to themselves she instead decided to follow after the individual with a gun. It probably wasn’t the wisest thing, following after someone with a weapon, but he seemed to know what he was doing and thus he was less likely to try and beg her for her stuff or expect to follow along with her so that she could protect him. She had a picture of her family within her pocket and was hoping she would be able to find someone who had seen them: even if she learned they were dead it was at least better than not knowing at all. It was her other mission: the first was to survive and not be eaten or turned into one of those freaks.
So, despite the fact that it wasn’t the wisest decision she had ever made she kept after him, moving even lower as she jumped down to another roof top – throwing her bag down as she had done before and landing in a crouch before rolling so she didn’t injure herself. She resisted the urge as she kept going to call out to him: she didn’t know if there were any zombies around and she didn’t want to accidentally draw their attention onto herself – or him for that matter. So, she simply followed and attempted to close as much of the distance gap as possible while making sure she kept her hands away from her weapons as to not come across as some kind of threat.

| Mark was not sure what was going on but when he called out the group looked his way and one left and from what was going on he most likely was not with the others, Mark would wave them over telling them too climb down if they wished too be truly safe from the countless undead which outnumbered the ones in the sewers easily even if Mark still had no idea how many if any were down there. After not too long the two girls and two guys were moving down the ladder.
"Hey it stinks like shit down here" one of the guys would say before looking over at Mark who was grabbing his bike. " It stinks but we are safer here than anywhere else, you see this water even though it's waste it will be easier too clean this water than too go out and find some in the city. If you guys wanna help I want too start blocking parts of the tunnels off so the only access is from one entry and the manhole covers." Everyone would look from one too the other before the same male from before would start too speak.
"It's too big down here and dark too live here"
Mark had planned that out the cars littering the streets were out of gas but held plenty of useful items one of these things was the batterys they could use them too provide light so they could get things done. " All we need is a couple car battery and too get too city hall and find the sewer schematics, once we get that there is nothing stopping us from living down here, we can clear the zombies in the sewers with these egg timers I have drawing there attention too move unwanted dead from our place which is here if you didn't notice more than enough space with only two entry points making it the easiest place too start blocking."
After awhile of talking Mark talked the group into helping him his plan was well thought out and no one would ever think too look in the sewers for supplies making it the perfect hiding spot, they decided too split. Mark going alone due too having his bike too the city hall and the others set out too find supplies and car batterys Mark gave them a simple listing of things he would need, fusses and wire a inverter and a couple car batterys this would only work for a little but it would be enough too power some lamps one per battery for a extended time.
It would not take long of swishing through the sewers before Mark made his way too the city hall lifting up the manhole the view was relatively clear, he would pull his up and run toward the entrance before peaking his head in. "Holy shit" the place as fills with about 20 dead and considering Mark had too get too the second floor he w0uld have too lead these dead away. After making a plan Mark had set two egg timers the first being in the entrance set at 3 minutes the second would be by a nearby alley way, the first timer would go off and the dead so would start moving once they reached the entrance the first timer would stop and the second would go off giving Mark the gap he needed too sneak in.
Once inside he would cough at the smell but quickly move too where the schematics were kept going through the door with a kick and loud bang he would close the door behind him the best he could before starting too go through the files. He would find a couple interesting things paperwork showing where the army had intended too go but he didn't bother too dead it, he grabbed three files the sewer schematics and the two maps of the city road map and the topographic. When he went too the door he would stop cause something pushed on it kicked the door must have drawn attention and considering he had no weapon he would have too find another way out. Moving too the window Mark would sling it open just as the door too the room as pushed open five dead, and due too being startled Mark was now falling out the window and with a loud thud he would hit the trashcan and begin groaning as he tried too get too his feet he was pretty sturdy so he managed too crawl back too the manhole and climb in close it then climbing too the bottom and giving a sigh as he gathered his thoughts.

Ghost didn't hear any footsteps behind him, so he wasn't being followed. He didn't know who that guy in the sewer was, and he didn't plan on trying to find out. It was getting dark out. For some reason Ghost felt like it would be a very bad idea to be on the street at night. He was dressed in black, so he wasn't worried about being seen for the moment.
The street he was on had many apartments and town houses, many of them ransacked with their windows busted. There were cars crowding the street with doors opened and luggage crammed inside, as well as being on the streets. And of course, there were dead bodies. Some of them were old, some of them were still fresh. A zombie lurked about here and there, causing Ghost to go low and avoid their lines of sight.
Ghost made it to the apartment building situated on the corner of the street. A truck on its side was blocking the front door, and the back of the building looked sealed off too, with parked cars. No one would be getting inside from the ground level. Ghost quickly made his way up onto the truck and stepped inside through an opened window, into a stairway. The lights were off in the building, so he pulled out his flashlight, but didn't turn it on. Ghost stood nearby the window for a while, watching, making sure no one had followed him.
When he was sure he was alone, Ghost walked up the stairs onto the cluttered second floor. Doors to apartments were open, and from the looks of things, the former occupants left in a hurry. Ghost went to the end of the hall and entered the apartment there, closing and locking the door behind him. He began to sweep the mostly empty place, checking to see if anyone alive or dead was inside. His check turned up nothing, so he turned off his flashlight.
Like the rest of the apartments on this floor, whoever lived here packed up in a hurry and left. Ghost turned the couch in the living room so that he would watch the front door and the window that gave a view out in front of the apartment. He took off his bag and coat, lying them on the couch, then put his bat and 1911 on the floor. Ghost sat down and took off his boots. He pulled out and opened one of his cans of beans to eat while looking at something on his android cellphone. It no longer worked, but he'd saved a lot of things like movies and videos on it. He was still left with how to keep it charged...
When he was done eating, Ghost sat in the dark, 1911 in hand, waiting, listening. The sounds of death and monsters that at people were all around. Occasionally there would be a scream of agony. Occasionally there would be gunshots. For now, Ghost felt that he was tucked off in his own corner for now, safe and out of immediate danger...

Even with Destiny moving pretty quick it seemed that the man she was following, the one whom had allowed the girl to be eaten, eluded her. She ended up losing sight of him, and outside of the general area of where he was had no idea exactly where he had gone. The last she had saw of him he was heading into a building that looked – from her careful evaluation of the place – as if it was blocked up pretty well. Was this his home base? Or was this just the place he decided to duck into for the night?
She found herself hesitating. She had just watched him allow someone to die – even though she knew nothing of the reasoning behind it. She also had no idea if he was alone inside of the building or not. She made it a point to avoid communities simply because she didn’t trust people: she didn’t feel safe around large groups of people she didn’t know – especially as a young female who was all alone. Still, it was hard to outweigh the fact that he might know something about her family, that he might have seen at least one of the people in the picture she had with her.
Destiny remained perched at the end of the roof of the building she was on for quite a while, determining and debating on what it was she wanted to do. She was desperate to find her family so that outweighed everything else, including her sense of perseverance. She knew the building he was in but not the apartment, so that was where she decided to start. Carefully, she made her way to the building and onto a fire escape on the side whose ladder didn’t reach the ground; the height of the building she was on and a good well timed jump making it possible. From there she began to make her way up as quickly as possible, peering in through windows as she went in an attempt to see if there was anyone else inside or around: including the dead she wanted desperately to avoid.
After a few floors of this type of exploration she found she couldn’t really tell if the place was inhabited or not: from the looks of things no one was in there, and yet she was certain at least one person was. Frowning to herself she found an unlocked window and pushed it open, having to give it a few extra shoves up to get it open wide enough for her to fit. She dropped her back in first and then climbed in. Once she picked up her bag she unsheathed her katana, wanting it ready just in case she ran into the wrong kind of trouble.
She made her way through the apartment; having climbed into what was apparently a child’s bedroom. Down a hallway and past several more rooms she headed for the front door which was locked from the inside: even the chain was on the door. Frowning, she turned, looking around… how could the door be chained and locked from the inside if there was no one there? Hesitantly, and somehow feeling like she was about to regret her decision, she called out, ”Hello? Anyone here?”

| Mark would slowly pick through his bag before pulling up a water bottle and taking a drink, he was happy nothing had been down here as of yet I seemed like this was a good idea after all he could not help but think of the unlucky people who were trying too find a place up in the city. Despite most people's fear of being confied meals for the dead, the sewers never held any people too begin with so there was nothing too draw the dead deeper in meaning the systems had too be clear for the most part at least logically. Mark would stand up and hop on his bike It was about time too meet the others and now that he had his map moving through the sewers was a breeze he didnr have too look out of every manhole too see where he was at. Before long he was once again at the biggest open area of the sewers with two entrances and the one high hole above which Mark now knew lead too the water treatment plant useful information.
"Hey over here!"
Mark would turn his head too see the two boys and two girls still alive which was good and another plus was the wood they were carrying. Considering he now had the maps Mark spent the next hour sharing his food with the group a whole can of yams he had been carrying around now leaving him with only one more can. After that he told them about his supplies outside the city and that if they planned on blocking this section off they needed the hammer and nails and paintball guns too make markers for the tunnel.
The group slowly got too work with Mark heading out through the tunnels too get his hidden supplies by the time he made it back the group had blocked off the entrance tunnel and made a sort of makeshift lock on the door already there which simply had a 2x4 latch like old doors however it was still blocks which was good enough, now that Mark had his other bag and more wood they started the other entrance making a make shift door out of the wood.
" these blockades are nothing special but they are a start too bigger things. The next thing I suppose we will need is power I don't think we could start a fire in here the smoke would end up suffocating us, I made a water purifier before i came too the city and if we can boil the water a should have plenty too drink in no time."

Ghost couldn't really sleep. He'd been unable to since this whole thing started. The screams, the gun shots, the moans... The thought of his brother out there somewhere in the middle of all of this madness. At best, he just sat there on the couch, gun in hand, dozing. He woke up to the smallest noise, the slightest creak. He was locked in here, and nothing else was in here with him, but Ghost didn't want to completely let his guard down.
Then there were sounds that were a little too close to home; sounds that signaled someone else in this building with him. Maybe it was one of those from before. They saw him come in here, waited till he was in here and sleeping, and were now making their move. Or, maybe he was just paranoid and thinking too much like he often did late at night. Yet the noises continued. They sounded like they were coming from the apartment a few doors down. The building, normally full of people, and outside, where there was usually traffic and honking horns, were so quiet he could hear the noises as clear as day. When there were footsteps moving through the place towards the hall, that's when Ghost was wide awake suddenly.
Someonehad followed him. Maybe he'd have to take a life for the first time; nothing would get in the way of him finding his brother, his last living relative. he stood, moving over to the front door. His shoes were off so his feet made no noise on the carpet. A bullet was already chambered in the 1911, so a thumb pulled back the hammer.
"Hello? Anyone here?" came a female voice he didn't recognize. She wasn't part of the group he'd encountered earlier. Ghost looked out the peek hole, but besides a silhouette and a bag she was carrying, he couldn't see what she looked like. He did happen to notice that she was holding a sword, which could have meant this was a trap.
Ghost thought of just staying quiet and letting her eventually go away, but she didn't look like the type to just go away. She looked about as equipped as he was, and wouldn't be carrying around a sword from some ninja flick if she didn't know how to use it.
"...I don't like being followed," Ghost said through the door, stretching out his arm to point the 1911 at the door where she was standing out in the hall. "Especially by some ninja lady with a samurai sword. I ain't looking for partners and I don't do groups, so I suggest you fuck off before this ends badly for you."

Dez wasn’t really expecting a response – though she certainly was hoping for one. She needed answers even though what she really wanted to do was go find a nice quiet place to spend the night where she would be safe from being turned into zombie poop later on. Or… wait, did they poop? She didn’t want to try and answer that. The smells coming off of those walking dead heads was bad enough without thinking they were capable of something like that.
Despite hoping for a response though Dez jumped when she actually got one. It sounded close, too, as if it were coming from behind one of the apartment doors. Apparently she had been right in her assumption that the guy she had been following was held up in one of the apartments for the night. Destiny glanced up the hall and then down it, always looking for zombies and ready to take them out or run depending on how many appeared, all the while listening to what the male voice on the other side of the door was saying. He mentioned he didn’t like being followed, and from what he said next it was clear he could see her – likely through a peep hole in the door. He added he wasn’t looking for partners, and clearly wasn’t interested in working together with anyone. He even added that she should ‘fuck off’ before it ended badly for her. Well, she had no intentions of doing that – at least not yet.
While keeping her hand tight on the hilt of her katana in case there was anyone else lurking about and this was all some type of ruse Destiny reached with her free hand into her pocket and pulled out a picture which was folded in half. Having heard enough of the man talking to have at least a half assed idea of where he was she unfolded the picture between her fingers and held it up and toward the door in hopes he’d be able to see it through the peep hole. ”I’m not looking to join up with you, or anyone else for that matter… I’m just looking for the people in this picture. You seem to know what you’re doing from what I saw earlier, so I was figuring it’d be best to ask you, instead of a couple kids running out of their minds scared, if you’d seen them. They’re my family… even if they’re dead I’d rather know than keep having to wonder.”
As if on an automatic reflex she glanced up and down the hall again, always looking for zombies and always expecting them to be lurking behind every corner. Her paranoia of sorts had kept her alive so far, so it seemed stupid to ignore her gut instinct to be cautious. Once she was sure she wasn’t being snuck up on she focused her attention back onto the door where she heard the man’s voice come out of, hoping for some kind of response other than another ‘fuck off’. She could feel her adrenaline rushing through her veins in anticipation for the answer to come: she wanted to know and yet she was scared to all at the same time. What exactly would she do if she found out her family was all dead and she was the only one left? Looking for them kept her moving forward, it gave her strength to go on even with how nasty and cruel the world had become. She really hadn’t taken the time yet to look too close on what she would do when that purpose was taken from her – if it was.

| "sounds good so what do we do if we do encounter a dead down there we don't have much light and can barely see ahead off us as it is."
"Yea this does not sound too good can you explain it I more time mark."
"O my gosh, it's simple if we don't make sure these tunnels have a clear path for us we end up trapped too this little section, we need more we need the whole sewer system for this too work. From what I can tell there are 12 gates in the sewers on the schematics we made 13 makeshift doors out of the planks from the farm through most of the night and they should hold until we can get our hands on some real material. We move in groups 4 doors at a time you two will carry one and the other two will carry one and I will carry two, there not that heavy all these doors are doing is securing the already in place sewer gates. Everyone understand?"
The group had not gotten much sleep instead Mark kept them working and was all paying off going up scavenging what they needed too make doors and latches out of the two by fours. Now they were walking through the tunnels placing doors on all of the entry ways, it would take about three hours but when they where done they could say for sure the tunnels were secure so too say at least from the dead, However anything with a brain could get into the place.
while the group was doing the last of the doors Mark decided too take their water bottles and refill them. he had too go up above but it would for sure be worth it he slowly climbed up and pushed the manhole cover open before looking around it was dark and his blue stood out but there was not much in sight all he saw was a building with a truck in front and another in back it looked oddly secure but it was the thing. Mark would lift from manhole and move toward the car and door he left most of his things back at the base he had his biggest back holding a two by four and a paintball gun along with two egg timers his other bag was empty for things he could gather. in his hands he also had a hammer for protection. He would lift the hood of the car and shriek at the sound it gave off looking around too see no dead he would go back too looking at the car he really didn't know too much about cars but he replaced his battery more than enough times he would pull it out and place it in his bag before crouching and doing the same thing too the other three cars around the building. Considering he didn't wanna be too over weighed he left the bag holding the batteries outside the building. Now he needed water and more specifically toilet water. He was feeling brave so he went straight into the building holding his paintball gun he would shoot the entrance red for scavenged. He decided I would be best too go up and scan the floors and he did just that before he got too a floor that had noise coming from it at first he thought it was dead but then he remembered well they don't talk. He would hug the wall. before looking into the hallway. Holy shit! a samurai chick and she seemed too be talking too someone well it would be badass too he friend with us it would also be had too be attacked by her. He had a idea though he pulls a shirt from a dead body and using the paint ball pellets he wrote a message on his two by four. "We are in the sewers and it's safe there" he would roll I down the hall not the smartest idea due too the noise but Mark was already heading down another floor pushing into a apartment and shutting a door. He would latch it behind him and grip his hammer. Going straight too the bathroom and lifting the lid from the toilet, jack pot. Now all he needs was a cup and some bottles he searched the house and found a empty juice bottle before heading back too the bathroom.
Since he could not boil the water he could filter this toilet water and it would be drinkable. It didn't take long too filter enough toilet water too fill the juice jug and once Mark was done he would take about three drinks and filter enough too fill it back too the top. Now what he was done with that he began ripping all the wire from the electronics in the house he would use this too connect things too the batterys. now the last thing he would grab would he a lamp. He would be tripping his lamp and hammer in the it He band his full bag over his shoulder and his other right next too it.

His position was compromised now. Someone knew where he was. He'd have to move, or stay up all night staring at the door and out of the windows. Would an ambush come next? Ghost didn't have anything of real value, but then again, everything he had was like gold now. Clothes that would protect him from the elements if he had to be out in it, a big bag, a gun, a bat, a machete, and everything else he'd picked up since leaving home... Little things that didn't really mean much before but people would now kill for. People were like animals now with no laws or authority; the guys trying to rape that girl earlier was proof enough of that.
The female on the other side of the door said she wasn't trying to join him or anyone. She said she was looking for someone, and since he looked like he knew what he was doing more than most she thought it a good idea to ask him other than those other idiot classmates who'd attempted to rob him, and were probably now down in the sewer with that bearded guy. She had a picture of them, and said they were her family. She said even if they were dead she'd rather know than keep being in the dark.
"How am I supposed to know?" Ghost responded. "I just left my house today, it's not safe to stay there anymore. The only people i've seen were some rapists, those cunts from earlier, some guy living down in the sewer, and now you. So sorry, you're asking the wrong guy."
Ghost kept the 1911 aimed at the door, waiting for what was next. He couldn't hear anyone else, but that didn't mean they weren't really good at hiding and keeping quiet. His paranoia senses were tingling extra hard. "If this is some sorta trap, you and whoever else you got with you ain't up against some ordinary chump. Go ahead and try me if you still think otherwise..."

It seemed as if Dez wasn’t going to get the answer she was looking for. From what she was hearing the stranger hadn’t really been around as much as she had been hoping he was: in fact from what he was saying he had just left home today so outside of some rapists and the kids he had ran into – one of whom he had allowed to be eaten – he hadn’t really seen anything at all. She could feel her heart drop in her chest as she lowered her hand back down with a sigh of disappointment. She folded the picture in half once more and then slipped it back into her pocket for safe keeping.
Well shit..., Dez found herself thinking as a frown formed across her face. She glanced up and down the hall once more, making sure there were no zombies attempting to lurk up on her, or the living for that matter – there was nothing, everything was so far clear and quiet. Her attention though shifted back into the door in front of her as she heard the words the stranger spoke next. He seemed to think this could all be some sort of trap. She couldn’t really blame him for thinking that, especially considering the world had gone to shit, but she had no intentions of causing problems for him.
”Nah, no trap. That’s all I wanted to know. Thanks for your time…” Destiny would turn then, heading back up the hallway the way she had come provided she wasn’t stopped. It was too dark to head back outside – far too dangerous that was for sure – so it seemed like she was going to have to camp out in one of the abandoned apartments. Not wanting to end up stuck in an apartment with no way out she figured she’d bunk up in the apartment she had come in through. She shut the door behind herself, locking it, and then as an added precaution shoved one of the kitchen chairs up under the doorknob to help keep the door from being able to be forced open. After a glance around she then decided to push the bookcase in front of the window that led to the fire escape; all while making sure it would be able to be moved in a hurry if need be.
Once she was satisfied that the entrances to the apartment were good and blocked – at least enough that she would know if someone was attempting to break in – she tossed her back on the ground near the door and flopped herself down on the couch with a sigh. She was exhausted, but she wasn’t sure how much sleep she was going to get knowing there was a stranger just a few walls down from her. Before the world had gone to shit it was something she never would have thought about – strangers were a part of life – but now she didn’t really trust anyone. So, instead of closing her eyes and resting she grabbed her bottle of water out of her bag and took a big sip of it…

| The way was clear and Mark started too walk back out off the building grabBing his bag he had left outside the door it was kinda heavy but he didn't have far too go he only had too make it back to the middle of the street and into the manhole; his current home. He would scan the area before moving over the vehicle blocking the doorway, and into the street slowly the darkness provided cover but he still had on a bright blue shirt. Once Mark made it back down the ladder he slung the Bags over the bikes handles before pushing down in the pedal moving him through the tunnel, it was pretty easy at this point too move down here. This day alone had been very productive he had the beginnings of a community, the next thing he would need is working electricity and a steady food supply possibly crops but where was a idea he could not think of down here the one thing he lacked was sunlight. As he rode he slowly made it too one of the refitted sewer doors he would give a whistle before the door was open from the inside so he didn't have too get off his bike. It seemed they had finish putting up the makeshift doors and now Mark could work on a few things but first he needed some rest he would drop the jug of water on the floor and let the kids have at it there was more where that had came from and he had gotten more than his fill along with refilling his own water bottle.
Moving too where he chose too make his area in a part of piping blocked off by door he would place his bags down and lean against the wall looking into the darkness it was hard too sleep but for the most part he felt safe and after a while he dozed off and into a sleep. His dream well why would one want too hear about that? Well because currently Mark was doing something that only smart people did work in his sleep making plans subconsciously. He was in the middle of a field overlooking the batterys that were in front of him as he reached a gust of wind began pushing him back and no matter how he tried he would be moving back and into the water before being pulled down. He knew he was drowning but simply floated before a light began forming in front of him causing him too shoot awake.
I know how we can do this!
